Office of the Chief Medical Director

The Chief Medical Director is the Chief Accounting Officer. He is responsible for the overall management of the hospital. He ensures the entire system runs smoothly without compromising standards while ensuring the vision and mission of the Hospital is met.

Professor. Yussuf, Abdullah Dasilva presently the Chief Medical Director, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital Ilorin

Professor. Yussuf, Abdullah Dasilva, began his academic sojourn in Lagos at the Army Children School, Ikeja Lagos (completed in 1977), Secondary education at the New State High School, Musin, Lagos (completed in 1982). 

Professor. Yussuf, AD then proceeded for medical degrees program at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and obtained MB;BS degrees in 1988. Following this, he had his internship experience at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital in 1989 after which he embarked on the one-year mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC), and was posted to a primary health centre in Iloobu (now Osun State) as the medical officer in-charge, till 1991. While there, he was a visiting medical officer to Osogbo (also in Osun State) General Hospital.

After completing the mandatory one-year national programme, Prof. Yussuf, AD joined the employ of the Kwara State Government as medical officer II and had at various times worked in Okenne and Mopa (both in Kogi State), and Sobi Specialist Hospital (Kwara State) till 1993. He later joined the residency training in the department of psychiatry of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, and finished the Fellowship training in 1999. He joined the service of University of Ilorin in 1999 as Lecturer I and became a senior lecturer in 2006. Prof. Yussuf is currently a Consultant Psychiatrist with the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital and a senior lecturer in the department of Behavioral Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin. He has attended several workshops and conferences (locally and internationally) where he has presented research papers. He has also published many high quality research works in reputable national and international journals. He has at various periods been the Acting head of the department of behavioral Sciences at both the Teaching Hospital and the University sides. He is currently the acting head of the department.

Awards: 
He was awarded Certificate of Merit by Lagos State School Management Committee in 1981. As a resident, he won the Outstanding Resident Award for Excellent performance in postgraduate medical examinations by the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital in 1996, Life membership award by the Association of Resident doctors, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital branch in 2000, and European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) award in 2008.
